KHELO INDIA UNIVERSITY GAMES 2020

1.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated
the first edition of the 2020 Khelo India
University Games which was held from
February 22- March 1, 2020 at KIIT
University in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.


 2.  Khelo India Youth Games, held in 2018, 2019 and 2020 at the National level, this program was now launched at the University level by the
Government.

3. It is the largest ever competition held at the university level in India.

5. TAGLINE- "Sports for Youth, Youth for Future "


6.  It was organised by Sports Authority of
India (SAI) and Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports along with Association of Indian
Universities, Indian Olympic Association and
National Sports Federation.

7.  Medal Tally 1st rank- Panjab University 17 gold 19 silver 10 bronze, total 46

2nd rank - Savitribai Phule Pune University
(Pune) 17 Gold 11 silver 9 bronze, Total 37

3rd Rank- Punjabi University (Punjab)
13 Gold  6 silver  14 bronze, total  33


8.  More than 4,000 athletes from over
100 universities across the country
participated in it.

9.  17 sports- archery,
athletics, boxing, fencing, judo,
swimming, weightlifting, wrestling,
badminton, basketball, football, hockey,
table tennis, tennis, volleyball, rugby
and kabaddi.


10.  India's fastest woman Dutee Chand
representing Kalinga Institute of
Industrial Technology clinched gold
medal in the 100 m and 200 m final.


11. Siddhant Sejwal of Panjab
University and Sadhvi Dhuri of Pune
University were the top performers with.
five gold medals each.


12.  The talented players are identified in
priority sports disciplines at various
levels (by the High-Powered
Committee) will be provided annual
financial assistance of 5 lakh
per annum for 8 years.
